Wayne Douglas Scott was born March 27, 1940, to the parentage of Addie and Ezra Scott Sr. Wayne was the 5th of 8 children: John (Herschel) Scott (Deceased), Lila Carr (Deceased), Ezra Scott Jr, Mary (Sister) Scott Harris, Addie Christine Kines, Elma Scott (Deceased), and JW Scott. He graduated from Clark High School in Ladonia, Texas, as the Salutatorian of his class. After High School, he moved to Oklahoma to be with Mary Scott Harris. It was his first move outside of Ladonia. This was only for a short time. He eagerly answered the calling of the US Navy, where he honorably served with great pride for 20 years. He enjoyed the opportunity to travel the world. Next, he was a middle-aged full-time student in college, Del Mar Community College, and UT-Arlington. Then, another way to serve came by way of the City of Fort Worth, another 20-year career. So, after roughly 40 years away from Ladonia, he decided to come back to his beloved hometown to help the youth see that there is more out there in the world beyond Fannin County. Wayne found great enjoyment in fishing, music from the 70s and 80s. He absolutely loved to BBQ, especially when he mastered the brisket. He just knew he was the master. He enjoyed simple conversations with the young, always to inspire them to fulfil their potential. But there was no greater pleasure for him than sitting around playing dominoes. He departed this life on September 11, 2025.
Wayne married Lorreta Ann Burns in 1975 while still enlisted in the Navy. And was additionally survived by his son, Edwin Scott and Daughter-in-law Tracy Scott and Kristyn Scott; Grandchildren: Ryan, Myles and Bonnie, Christopher, Emoni, Priscilla and Melissa; Great-grandchildren, Kamari, King, Athaleyah, Gabriella, Janayah, Jonathan, Nehemiah and Messiah; A long-time special friend, Sandra Cuba, Daughter Dana Cuba-Tinnel and God Daughter Kenigel Cuba; Brothers Ezra Scott Jr and wife Marilyn, JW Scott and wife Marva; Two Sisters Addie Christine Kines and Mary Scott Harris; And a multitude of Nieces, Nephews and a large extended family and friends
Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
