Rosie Velma Woods

Rosie Velma Woods, 81, of McKinney, Texas, departed this life on Saturday, August 15, 2026.  Her Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM.  The Homegoing Service will be at First Pinnacle of Praise Church of God in Christ, located at 614 Annie St,  McKinney, TX 75069.

Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11:30 AM  to 12:30 PM (before service) at First Pinnacle of Praise Church of God in Christ, located at 614 Annie St * McKinney, TX 75069

Rosie Velma Woods was born on January 5, 1945, in Sulphur Springs, TX, to Vivian Ruth Barnett and Horace L. Pannell.  She received her education at Norris High School in Commerce, TX.

She was raised in a loving family with five siblings, grounded in strong Christian faith. She accepted Christ at an early age and dedicated her life to serving God.

She married John A. Woods and moved to McKinney, TX in 1966.

She worked for McKinney and Plano ISD and was also a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for many years.

If you knew Rosie, you knew she loved her family and was so godly proud of her two sons, along with her grandchildren. She loved singing for the Lord, enjoyed cooking for others, traveling, shopping, and going out to eat all over town.

She leaves to cherish her memories her two sons, Craig (Paula) Lewis and John Woods; her grandchildren, Craig, Joshua, Kylen, Kionci, Kassidy, Konnell, Kahlee, Joniya and Jonavon; along with her siblings, Versell Savage, Jackie Spencer, and Perry Pannell, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Woods Sr., her parents, her sister Barbara Crosby, and her brother, Bobby Pannell.
