Modesto Warren Gilstrap

Modesto Warren Gilstrap, 62, of Arlington, Texas, departed this life on July 18, 2026.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 1st at St. John Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M.

Modesto was born to James Gilstrap and Erma Dell Wilkerson Gilstrap on January 22, 1964, in Greenville, Texas. He was a devoted father, loving grandfather, caring uncle, protective brother, and loyal friend.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, DeAndre Hill, Denise Gilstrap, Modesto Gilstrap, Jr, and Warren Gilstrap; his siblings Ila Christine Stephens, Richard Gilstrap, and Billy Gilstrap; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Modesto is preceded in death by his parents, Erma and James Gilstrap; two sisters, Paula Denise Gilstrap Anderson and Jeanette Yvonne Gilstrap Smith; and seven brothers Alton Wilkerson, Willis Reed Wilkerson, Cleveland Leroy Wilkerson, Oscar James Gilstrap, Johnny Charles Gilstrap, Talmadge Gilstrap, and Johnny Howard.
