Ida Mae Smith of Greenville departed this life on September 13, 2025. Her Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The Homegoing Service will be at The Greater Rose of Sharon located at 3511 Salem Street, Greenville, Texas, 75401.
Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Love & Integrity Funeral Service located at 4900 King Street * Greenville, Texas.
Ida Mae Smith was born on May 1, 1934, in Marietta, Texas, to the late Elree and Lillie Locket. Ms. Ida married Bobby Lloyd Smith and was the mother of eight children. Ms. Ida dedicated over 25 years of her life to the care and well-being of others as an employee at Greenville Nursing Home, where she was deeply respected by her colleagues and the families she served. Her caring nature was evident in all she did, as she touched the lives of countless individuals during her career. A devout and faithful member of the Greater Rose of Sharon Church of God In Christ, Ms. Ida exemplified what it means to be a servant of the Lord. Throughout her years at the church, she faithfully contributed her time, talents, and energy, holding numerous roles within the church community. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible Band and Mission Teacher/President, Sunshine Band and Youth Director, and was a dedicated member of the Usher Board. Known for her unwavering faith, she was a prayer warrior in the army of the Lord, consistently lifting others in prayer and offering spiritual guidance to those in need.
Ms. Ida leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Three daughters: Millie Chadwick (Greenville, TX), Barbara Richardson (Robert) of Moss Point, MS, and Lenda Smith (Greenville, TX). Three sons: Melvin Smith Sr. (Greenville, TX), Patrick Smith (Greenville, TX), and Dennis Smith (Rebecca) of Greenville, TX; special grandkids: Detrick Reed. Deundra Reed and Brent Smith; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved by her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby Lloyd Smith, two daughters: Judy Reed and Rachael Smith, her daughter-in-law Jeanette Smith, and her grandson, Melvin Smith. Ms. Ida’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to call her mother, granny, sister, or friend.
