In Loving Memory of Essie B. Fields:
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Essie B—a woman whose life was defined by love, dedication, and unwavering strength.
Essie was born to the late Henry Lee Woodberry and Lee Ann Stoker Woodberry. She was raised with strong values that guided her throughout her life. She received her education at Harleton ISD in Harleton, Texas.
She faithfully served her community for 51 years at Smith Nursing Home in Wolfe City, Texas, beginning in 1962 and continuing until her health declined in 2008. She was also a faithful and devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for many decades, serving as an usher, a deaconess, and a cherished voice in the choir. A woman of many hats and many talents, she gave her time, her gifts, and her heart in service to others. Her commitment, compassion, and tireless work ethic touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on everyone she cared for.
She was a devoted mother to her children: “Marcella and Cliff,” John Eric Woodbury, Marvin Woodberry, Clarence Fields, and Tommy Fields. Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins, and all of whom she loved dearly.
She is also remembered by her siblings, sister Lillie Mae Woodbury, brother Luther Ray Woodbury, and Tina.
Essie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, one son, and one grandson.
